The US release of Lifeforce maintains the core gameplay of its Japanese counterpart, Salamander, but with slight alterations. These changes may include adjusted enemy placements, slightly modified power-up systems, and even some graphical tweaks.  The overall experience, however, remains one of intense, fast-paced shooter action characteristic of Konami's style. The game's popularity in arcades led to its enduring legacy within the shooter genre.  Similar to the Japanese version, players navigate intense levels, strategically deploying power-ups to survive.
