Super Luigi Bros. 2
Super Luigi Bros. 2 is often considered a reimagining of the original Doki Doki Panic game (developed by Nintendo and released in Japan) that was repurposed and released outside of Japan as an official Super Mario game. This version features the titular Luigi as the protagonist, swapping the typically Mario-like gameplay for a different feel. It features unique mechanics like the ability to pick up and throw enemies, adding another layer of strategic gameplay compared to the more typical Super Mario titles. It still carries the side-scrolling platforming that defined the era, but with a unique twist, making it an interesting addition to the genre. While its gameplay has similarities to other platformers of the era, it stands out because of its focus on Luigi and its different level design and enemy interactions. The visuals are colorful and consistent with other NES platformers of that period.
