Dance Dance Revolution 5th Mix continues the legacy of the Dance Dance Revolution series, offering expanded gameplay over its predecessor, 4th Mix. Released for the PlayStation in 2000 by Konami, this version added more songs to its already impressive tracklist, enhanced graphics, and potentially new gameplay modes depending on the region.  The core gameplay remained the same: players used a dance pad to follow the arrows in sync with the music to achieve high scores. The game became very popular in arcades and home consoles, and is considered a classic amongst rhythm game enthusiasts.
