The King of Fighters '99
Following the success of its predecessor, The King of Fighters '99, also developed by SNK, improved on the formula by adding new characters and mechanics, refining the balance and overall gameplay experience for Playstation. The 3-on-3 team battle system remained the core mechanic, with players selecting teams and strategically utilizing each fighter's unique strengths to defeat opponents. The game retained the fast-paced, exciting combat that defined the series, but '99 introduced refinements to its special moves and fighting system. '99's new additions, like the Striker system, allowed for more strategic play, adding layers of depth to the already intricate battle system. While continuing the legacy of the franchise, The King of Fighters '99 provided enough new content to attract both returning and new fans of the iconic fighting game series.
