Batman Returns, a side-scrolling beat 'em up, was released for the Sega Master System in Europe. Developed by Sega, the game closely follows the plot and aesthetic of the Tim Burton film. Players control Batman as he battles through various levels filled with enemies inspired by the movie, utilizing punches, kicks, and his iconic batarang. The gameplay is straightforward yet engaging, offering a combination of fast-paced action and puzzle elements.  While not as graphically advanced as some later titles, it captured the essence of the film's dark atmosphere.
