Civilization, released for the SNES in the USA, is a port of the original Sid Meier's Civilization. The SNES version retains the core elements of the PC original; players manage a civilization and work towards domination through cultural, technological and military development. This version offered a condensed experience compared to its PC counterpart due to the platform's technical limitations. This adaption marked one of the early attempts at bringing the complex grand strategy game to a console platform.
