Similar to the first game's translation, David Mullen's English patch for Ys II made the game accessible to English-speaking audiences. It preserved the core gameplay experience of the original Japanese NES release, preserving the core combat and exploration elements.  The translation opened the game to a wider audience who previously lacked the linguistic means to enjoy this chapter in the Ys series.
