This version of Ys represents an English translation patch created by David Mullen. It brought the previously Japan-only NES title to English-speaking audiences.  The gameplay remains consistent with the original Japanese release, offering the same blend of action combat and exploration. However, this translation patch significantly altered the accessibility of the game for many western gamers, making it more widely enjoyed.
